Coffee, caffeomanzia and beliefs

caffeomanzia
The caffeomanzia is a method of divination performed by reading the bottoms of coffee cups. Already practiced in the East several centuries ago, it arrived in Italy (Florence) to the end of' ‘600 century and quickly spread to the rest of Europe.

The divination is practiced using a Turkish coffee (made from a mixture of fine powder of coffee with water, plus spices and other procedures to make up a drink "syrupy"): the mixture obtained is served in a cup of white porcelain with saucer and its drunk cold and with no sugar added. Once the coffee had been drunk, on the bottom of the cup are left the remaining mixture of coffee residuals and water. At this point the drinker closes the cup with the saucer upside down and starts making short rotations of the cup, focusing on the aspects that want to know. When the drinker feels ready, it overturns the cup and saucer on the table. The cup is allowed to stand still on the saucer upside down until the bottom of the cup is not cooled: using a finger is possible to test the cup temperature. When the bottom of the cup is sufficiently cold, the drinker turns the cup and proceeds to the bottoms coffee cup reading.

There are different methods for reading the meaning of the coffee cups bottoms: in general, the figures drawn into the cup represent the future, while the remaining coffee bottoms placed into the saucer represent the current situation.

I love this coffee maker, I used one all through my student days; so I recently bought one from Florence at twice the value if you include post. But nowhere on the Internet that I have seen, does anyone say that when you 'flip' the pot, if it is done .....
