Coffee and pregnancy

Coffee and pregnancy
We know that the caffeine in coffee, if taken in excess, is an intoxicating agent that can determine various symptoms (e.g. tachycardia, increased blood pressure, vasoconstriction, etc.).
During the pregnancy period, therefore, as a basic principle valid for many other foods taken during pregnancy, women should not exceed the consumption of coffee (a couple of cups a day can easily satisfy the desire for the coffee aroma, even for the mothers kept on very closely diet too).

Fixed that, there are several studies showing that coffee drinking during pregnancy has no effect on fetus development (International Agency for Research on Cancer World Health Organization). This confirmation also comes from a study where they were tracking a group of women during pregnancy: the study is to assess the effects of smoking, alcohol and caffeine on the fetus. The result was that among women who consumed large quantities of coffee had not problems in the fetus develop (however strong smokers and drinkers, on the contrary, highlighted many problems).

Moreover, according to researchers at the Royal College of Midwives, during the baby breastfeeding a mother can consume up to 4 cups of coffee a day. Even if the caffeine passes into breast milk, the caffeine dose is so minimal that no side effects where evaluate on physical and behavioural children development. An additional study (Study Barr - 1991 - No 13 Neurotoxicology and Teratology) performed on women coffee drinkers during lactation, and during a period between birth and 7 years old children, confirmed that the caffeine does not interfere with either growth or with the weight and much less with the IQ of the child.

To settle the authoritative The Lancet and American Journal of Epidemiology reported two studies (3.000 women involved saw the first and the second 10.000) where it appears that there is no association between drinking coffee and delays in conceiving, as there is no correlation with a possible sterility.

I love this coffee maker, I used one all through my student days; so I recently bought one from Florence at twice the value if you include post. But nowhere on the Internet that I have seen, does anyone say that when you 'flip' the pot, if it is done .....
